United States Botanic Garden
Rose & the Nightingale performs the Spirit of the Garden concert at the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. The band plays music from its debut release Spirit of the Garden, celebrating the sublimity of botanic gardens through poetry and song. The lyrics to the songs are poems exploring the nexus of spirituality and nature, written by living American poets from across the country.

Poetry Takes Flight Through Song Workshop-Reeves Reed Arboretum
Rose & the Nightingale present their Kids Workshop ‘Poetry Takes Flight Through Song.’ Kids write nature haikus inspired by Arboretum botanical spaces, and work with bandmembers to craft the poems into the lyrics of new songs, collaboratively composed. Highlights from the workshop are performed for parents on the Friday afternoon concert as well as on July 24 before Rose & the Nightingale’s public concert at Reeves Reed Arboretum.

Reeves Reed Arboretum Concert
Rose & the Nightingale, 2013 Ensemble-in-Residence at Reeves Reed Arboretum, present their Spirit of the Garden concert, celebrating the sublimity of botanic gardens through poetry and song. Songs feature lyrics by living American poets from across the country.
Before the concert, highlights will be showcased from the “Poetry & Music in the Garden Workshops,’ offered June 21 and July 17-19 at the Arboretum for kids, with workshop participants performing alongside Rose & the Nightingale.
